About the Wine

95WE - This is an impressively memorable wine, perfumed in violet and sage tones, with a persistence of blackberry and cocoa powder that feels seamless and perfectly integrated on the palate. Accents of bright acidity and graphite complement the richer, concentrated aspects, finding rhythm in the glass.

Only 300 cases were made of this Cabernet that was aged in French oak barrels for over two years. It comes from the Lamonica vineyard, located on the east side of the Napa Valley next to Darioush Winery. Owner and wine-maker Chris Dearden is said to have two passions: Wine and his Newfoundland dogs. “Little Giant” comes from the nickname for the Newfoundland dog breed, which is rather large in size yet gentle. Dearden was inspired and translated this to his Cabernets, which are full-bodied yet not over-powering. Since 1986, Dearden has been producing wines in the Napa Valley.

"Aged for over 24 months in French oak barrels, the wine is full bodied, delicious, dark and decadent. It has beautiful aromas of blackberry jam, espresso roast coffee, melted caramel, cocoa powder, dried tobacco leaf and clove. On the palate it is generous, full-bodied and deliciously mouth coating with ripe black fruits, spice and depth." (https://deardenwines.com/spring-2017-promo/
