Chardonnay has found a new champion in the Mondavi family! Emblem represents the commitment that this visionary family has to Sonoma and the Chardonnay grape.
The Mondavi family has tended vineyards in California’s Napa Valley for four generations. In 1999, Michael purchased the Animo vineyard in Atlas Peak, marking the first chapter of the Michael Mondavi Family Estate.
The Mondavi's pride Themselves on creating a family-owned, heritage driven portfolio of small-production, artisanal wines. With Chardonnay at thier core, the Mondavi's take a new approach on crafting artisanal wines from Napa and Sonoma.
In keeping with Mondavi family traditions, farming of the Michael Mondavi Family Estate vineyards adhere to sustainable and organic standards. The family believes that the best grapes come from the best vineyards and endeavors to maintain the health of the Napa Valley ecosystem for future generations. All vineyards are farmed sustainably and our estate vineyards are certified Napa Green.
Under the Emblem label, siblings Rob Mondavi Jr. and Dina Mondavi have collaborated to produce a fantastic Chardonnay from one of Sonoma's newest AVA's, Pentaluma Gap. This wine is a distinct Sonaoma wine from the family’s Rodgers Creek Vineyard.
Sonoma’s Petaluma Gap continues to set the bar higher for the entire region by providing fruit with exceptional freshness, minerality and a remarkable depth of clean varietal character. The Rodgers Creek selection provides a rocky soil substrate with a cool windy climate and ample sunshine making this one of the most expressive sites to grow Chardonnay.
Tasting Notes: Soft aromas of freshly cut Fuji and Honeycrisp apples begin as soon as you pop the cork on this delightful Chardonnay. Followed by layers of citrus fruit and essence of vanilla drawn from the French oak barrels. The palate shows the perfect flash of minerality on the finish that carries through to a rounded mouthfeel and fresh vibrancy.
