About the Wine

Founded in 1830, Champagne Philippe Gonet is located in the heart Le Mesnil-sur-Oger, next door to Salon and a few steps away from Clos du Mesnil. The 19 hectares of family vineyards are divided among 45 parcels. The average age of the vines is between 30 and 40 years with one historical parcel located near the village entrance that was planted in 1929.

Chardonnay is the Gonet family’s selected grape variety with one-third of the parcels in Le Mesnil.
High proportion of reserve wines is in every bottle, from 30 to 50% with 7 different vintages.

Natural and traditional approach during the winemaking.

7 GENERATIONS OF TRADITION
A small artisanal boutique champagne house with only 16,000 cases produced annually.
A House of 7 generations with a future-oriented team. A brother and sister.
A House seen as a benchmark of Blanc de Blancs by noteworthy wine critics.

A DIFFERENT WINE MAKING
Important part of reserve wine in each NV : at least 30% of reserve wine made with 7+ vintages. These older wines bring out richness and complexity that allow for a minimal dosage approach ( max of 7 grams per liter). The wines express the terroir and reflect the house style - minerality.

Long lees aging : at least 3 years for the NV, at least 7 years for the vintages and release after 6 months of disgorgement.

Sustainable viticulture, a natural approach - no insecticide, no herbicides, no fungicides. Use of pheromone trapping method, ploughing, and Bio fertilizer.

This is the story of an encounter between a former vineyard cultivated for nearly two centuries by the same family, and the seventh generation, brother and sister, who get control very early on. A fantastic adventure begins for brother and sister, 22 and 23 years respectively, when they decide to take over the family business and continue the work of their father Philippe Gonet, who died three years earlier. A heavy challenge for these youngsters that they took on with a passion, that runs in their veins and those of six generations farmers and winemakers, who preceded them. Pierre and Chantal, contrasting and complementary personalities, share a common vision: to make Champagne Philippe Gonet a must-have winemaker, recognized worldwide for its high quality wines that express the richness, purity, nuances and minerality of their terroir: Le Mesnil -sur- Oger.

30% Chardonnay, 60% Pinot Noir, 10% Pinot Meunier
