Pedernales Viognier-Our 2018 Viognier Reserve is a slightly different wine stylistically than previous years. This wine is silky, polished, and mouth filling. A perfect balance between ripe fruit and savory influences. Flavors of plum, blackberry pie, pencil lead, and tobacco harmoniously blend with well integrated French oak influence. The rich and silky tannins lead to a finish that is fresh, lively, and persisting on the palate. Best paired with a marbled cut of meat or traditional Texas BBQ.
Arche Syrah-Assertive florality, backed up by smoke meats, ripe blackberry with cranberry nuances and rose-inflected cinnamon make a heady aromatic concoction all replicated on the palate. Lively and juicy in the mouth, a glycerin sheen yields a lovely satin-like mouthfeel giving way to a marriage of fine-grained, prickly tannins and brittle, crystalline acidity on the high-toned finish, which features, as it fades, the return of resonant, sweet fruit. Becker Vineyards-2017 was an exceptional vintage year. The 2017 Cabernet Franc Reserve is a great example of this. Reminiscent of the Old World Loire Valley with fruit, body and structure underpinned by lavish tannins, layers of developed fruit, including the beloved green notes epitomizing Cabernet Franc, come forward with deep violet and cassis nose. Following are notes of mild pepper, wood violet and red fruit (think red berries) around the edges. What unfolds from there is an intriguing sublime note of rich tobacco, oak and dark bittersweet chocolate on the finish.
